Wavelink Ships New Version of Enterprise Mobility Management Software
Wavelink Avalanche 5 improves employee productivity, bolsters network security and reduces cost of owning and managing mobile devices
MIDVALE, UTAH — JUNE 2, 2010 — Wavelink Corporation (www.wavelink.com) today announced the availability of Avalanche 5, the next generation of the industry’s leading software for mobile device management and wireless infrastructure management software. Wavelink® Avalanche® 5 provides a comprehensive, vendor-independent management solution for the wireless enterprise with newly added capabilities such as a web-based console, device location mapping, wireless wide area network (WWAN) enhancements and security compliance tools. Â
Wavelink Avalanche provides centralized configuration, deployment and management of mobile devices and wireless infrastructure that works seamlessly across local and wide area networks. It improves the productivity of mobile workers, increases network security and reduces the total cost associated with owning and managing mobile devices and peripherals.
“Avalanche 5 is the result of Wavelink’s 20 years of experience in mobile technologies and extensive feedback from customers across many industries such as retail, manufacturing and transportation,” said Lamar Van Wagenen, president and CEO of Wavelink. “Not only have we strengthened and added to the most comprehensive feature set of any product on the market, we have invested heavily in creating a new Web-based interface that makes Avalanche much more intuitive and easy to use.”
Wavelink Avalanche 5 adds a number of new features to improve ease-of use, provide additional management capabilities and enhance network security:
- An easy-to-use, Web-based console that is accessed via a standard browser and requires no local installation. The console includes an integrated reporting module and wireless infrastructure heat maps where predicted wireless coverage and device locations can be displayed on a floor plan diagram. The Java console is also still available.
- Device location mapping allows organizations to view detailed information regarding the current and past location of devices being managed. The client gathers GPS statistics including latitude, longitude, heading and speed, or it can even approximate a location based on cell tower association. The location of the device is then displayed in a worldwide, Web-based map with street-level views.
- WWAN enhancements that strengthen and extend the existing capabilities of Avalanche to manage devices outside the four walls regardless of the network available, whether it is Wi-Fi or WWAN.
- Security and PCI compliance enhancements that further solidify Avalanche as a leader in helping companies enforce security in the wireless ecosystem. This includes expanded reporting and alert options as well as encryption throughout the product from system communication to sensitive database fields.
- Two-way text messaging allows for easy, convenient communication between the management console and the device or groups of devices.
Wavelink Avalanche 5, including both Avalanche Mobility Center (MC) and Avalanche Site Edition (SE), are now available through Wavelink partners. For more information about Wavelink Avalanche, please visit http://www.wavelink.com/avalanche.
